High-Quality Wood Pellets — That’s the Energex Standard

Under the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), newer pellet stove users must only use pellets certified under certain standards. Any product that doesn’t comply with the NSPS can void the warranty on your stove. Uncertified pellet manufacturers also have no obligation to follow up on their guarantees, so you can’t trust what the package says. Buying from a company with accountability ensures you have high-quality pellets that won’t threaten your stove’s warranty.

Why risk your stove? Choose pellets approved under NSPS-friendly measures like the Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) Standards Program. PFI-certified pellets like the ones produced by Energex meet the most rigorous quality standards in the industry. Companies must agree to monthly on-site audits that also includes product testing. We received the honor of PFI certification in 2015, with our Quebec facility becoming the first in Canada to meet the program’s standards. As of now, our Quebec facility is still the only Canadian pellet plant approved under the PFI Standards program.

All Energex pellets produced after November 20, 2015, have certification as PFI Premium Grade Products. Please note that some packaging sold through 2017 did not include the PFI Quality Mark, but the products inside met the same quality standards as marked pellets.

The Energex Standard

When you buy PFI certified wood pellets, you guarantee yourself a quality product. After all, the PFI Standards Program has some of the most stringent criteria in the pellet fuels industry. However, what if you want not only good wood pellets, but the best wood pellets? A product needs even more than PFI standards to become the best of the best. It needs to follow the Energex Standard.

Our quality assurance and quality control programs go above and beyond PFI’s standards to create wood pellets like no other. Everything starts with our materials. Before we use any wood or sawmill residuals, we test them in our QC lab. Any wood that doesn’t have the ash, moisture or clean virgin wood fiber levels we require goes directly back to the supplier. You don’t have time for a second-rate product, and neither do we. The pellets are continually testing throughout the production, packaging, and shipping process using our state-of-the-art QA/QC program. We have developed the industry’s most advanced quality control system to track and ensure product quality. We take every step of the process seriously — it’s the Energex standard.

Why Risk Your Stove?

Substandard wood pellets don’t only void your stove warranty — they can also put your stove or home in harm. You made an investment when you purchased your wood pellet stove, and you don’t want to have to make it again. Also, standards like the ones created by PFI ensure the safe use of your stove. Using the wrong pellets can create dangerous conditions for you and your family. Why risk your stove? Trust Energex.
